Since the antioxidant vitamins tend to obtain the major part of the pressure and publicity, much of people are unaware of that there are also important antioxidant minerals which are essential with the continuous battle of the body against the free radicals and the damage that they. To make sure that the suitable food is consumed daily is a part necessary to help the body to be able to also low keep damage of free radical like possible. An mineral, the vitamin or any other food is considered antioxidant if it, only or as an essential part of a group of substances, it is used to control the free radicals. The free radicals are unstable molecules which generally come from the two environmental and unquestionable contaminants of the normal processes of the body.

There are certain minerals which are an integral part to control the free population of radical in the body. Selenium came to be identified as a one of most important of these minerals, although each one plays an important part in the free management of radical. Selenium is a component essence of the antioxidant peroxides of glutathione of enzymes, and this substance is one which can stabilize the free radical. Since the universal acceptance of mineral selenium, a trace element, like essential food during the Fifties, researchers had studied the ways in which it affects health. In 1973, the researchers confirmed the antioxidant properties of mineral selenium, and since then, the many studies showed that it can play a significant part in the prevention of certain types of cancers.

However, it is advisable to note that the excessively high levels of selenium can pose serious problems of health - just as can of the insufficiencies of selenium - and some studies to have founded the levels excessively raised of selenium to associate other types of cancer. The body is a significant balance of a variety of chemicals and substances, and the optimum execution requires the thought and planning.

The minerals zinc and copper belong to th! e others of the important antioxidant enzymes of the body. This enzyme, called the dismutase of superoxyde, is present in the body in two forms. The first form is found almost everywhere in the body, and it needs zinc and copper to function. The second shape of this important antioxidant enzyme, the dismutase of superoxyde is found specifically in the mitochondries, which is the part of the responsible cell to change the energy which comes from various food in a form which can be employed by the cells.

In this second form of the dismutase of superoxyde of enzymes, it is the mineral zinc and the mineral manganese which are essential with the capacity of the antioxidant enzymes to function correctly. To make sure that the body has all the minerals, the vitamins and other food which it has need for each day is very important for the health of day in day and long-term and the wellbeing.

The dietetic supplements are sure and effective means to see that the body has all the food which it must for all its systems function on the maximum levels of the performances, particularly those which maintain health daily and those which protect health above the term. However, the food supplements are the powerful agents, and must be employed in the established directives of proportioning to be salutary to health. Used this way, the dietetic supplements can be used as valid part of any routine of health.
